Hazbin Hotel: Modern Musical Done Right. (Hell is Forever, More Than Anything, Poison)
Переглядів 291 тис.3 місяці тому
Hazbin Hotel has had me in a death grip since it released and a large part of it is the music. Hazbin is a full blown broadway musical brought to animation and streaming and I'm here to check into the hotel.... I just had to... Also, I used the terms SA and SW for s*xual abuse and s*x worker in the video as UA-cam doesn’t like it when you say those phrases out loud. Merch! merch.streamelements....
Blue Eye Samurai: Updating Classic Cinema

I love Samurai films, and I love Western films. And now I love Blue Eye Samurai Back in the day there was a very special sub-genre that in my head was called Western Samurai films. Movies that borrowed back and forth from each others cultures to make stories of Giri and Ninjo. Now Blue Eye Samurai takes that sub-genre and updates it with modern story telling. I respect your commentaries on controversies. Too many people jump on the bandwagon when it comes to controversies without knowing what is actually going on or whether it's actually true. You have to understand what is actually going on to get a proper opinion on it or just stay out of the matter entirely, cause it does no one any good to jump in without the full story from both sides (along with the ability to doubt)

I figured watching video essays about Jinx might help give us a better understanding on how to write mental illness and stuff like that. I think I’m starting to get a good idea on how tho properly write these kinds of characters. Awesome video, thank you

    I always liked this movie as a kid, but as I grew up, I kind of forgot about it. I went to college for a music degree and had to do senior recital. “When you believe“ suddenly popped into my head as something I wanted to do at my concert. So I watched the movie again and was almost in tears at the music. The God theme is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever listened to and I’m not even religious. For my concert I had another girl with me on stage for the duet section and then for the choir part when we start singing in Hebrew I had my music fraternity rise up from their seats in the back of the auditorium and start singing. Luckily the music hall was set up so that you could get the same sound no matter where you sing from. it was amazing. My mom was crying so hard and she still talks about it to this day.

    I feel like people misinterpreted some of Silco's "non-loving" traits. He gave everything to Jinx while she was growing up, like even gave her own hideout to be alone and build her innovations because probably understood she was an eccentric and explosive person, he even had her be helpful with the shady business knowing shell feel like she can do something. The only truly awful thing Silco did was misguide her into becoming dangerous, and he was deceptive. He lied and had her on this belief, that Vi had left her (However, Ekko can be debated. I think he hid when he thought all of his friends died.) They were obviously very unhealthy and likely trauma-bonded, don't get me wrong I don't like Silco but he tried his best to guide and be as much of a help. He just had to be the bad guy ☹️

    damn your story about how you eventually came round to finally watch this thing and you were not prepared for what you had been missing out on all this time. I binge watched the last 4 episodes a day or so ago (yes my jump in point was the incredible episode 5), and havent been able to stop thinking about what i saw for very long. Just tonight i watched the first 2 episodes again and it has been quite the trip ill tell you! To know everything each person goes through in their journey and who they eventually become at the end, makes it even more shocking when you see how they were at the beginning of the show. As well as seeing the main characters first meetings with each other, and how such an unlikely series of events brings them all together, and how they eventually learn from one another and change because of it. Even something as simple as the way Mizu moves is different. Episode 1 she is quick, precise, flawless and also kind of robotic. By the end she is relaxed, confident, fluid and a joy to watch. The body as well as the mind is changed in profound ways. Such an incredible show.

    In my opinion Out for Love fails because it doesn’t fit into the narrative, since while yes Vaggie is a angel she’s never shown even a hint at fighting for vengeance it’s always been for Charlie so the song doesn’t fit what the story has set up and therefore comes out of nowhere.

  • @charliecheadle9154

    When I first watched the show, I thought what everyone else thought. “He’s the best father he could be in the set environment” or “He’s trying his best but his best was horrible, but he loves Jinx nonetheless”… but really…at the end of the show when he says “I never would’ve given you to them…not for anything” the puzzle pieces started connecting…He’s a codependent, traumatized person who bonded with a person just as, if not more, traumatized as him and opened himself up in many vulnerable ways (with his emotions, the shimmer injections, etc.), which allows him to express his emotions in some form and gives him a sense of safety, forgetting Jinx is a child… he’s a person who’s had an such a big traumatic experience with abandonment and to avoid a similar experience he will grasp onto anything and do anything to make it stay the way things are…and then it hit me: *“Of course he wouldn’t give her up..How could he?”* Silco was eventually so desperate for that emotional connection that once he’d gotten a sense of it, he’d be willing to sacrifice *anything* for it. This included the loyalty of his crew, the respect of his inferiors and attainable Nation of Zaun he fought for his entire life! And these examples go to show how deeply traumatized Silco is. That pain and betrayal really did “eat him from the inside out”. And although he’s a hardened kingpin, in his relationship with Jinx, it really shows how broken and twisted he is, no matter how tough or intimidating he displayed himself to be. Because when push came to shove, he was still a human being.

  • @lukestarkiller441
    @lukestarkiller441 6 днів тому

    I don't think it's that much of a hot take about Whatever it takes, I've always found people saying it's one of the weakest songs of the season. Out for Love, I do disagree with you on. It works, but just barely enough. The song beat itself could have been better, but I do think it gets its point across. Reassuring Vaggie that she does indeed love Charlie in spite of everything, and fighting for her is the only way she is going to win. You didn't know, is probably one of my favorite songs of the season. It packs soi much into such a short amount of time & does it spectacularly. Emily questioning the rules of Heaven, Charlie being pissed at heaven's not even following their own morals, Sarah trying to explain it was a difficult decision that she felt had to be made, Adam & Lute's complete disgust that redemption for demons is even still being considered (plus the short few note represial of Hell is Forever). The way the song balances all that plus the different music beats as it goes through each character, is simply amazing.

      I would reverse what you said about out for love the beat is actually great ant catchy but its point is made flawed by horrible lyrics and the fact that Vaggie was literally fighting for love

    How i feel about every song (im writing this at like 1AM so this comment might give you an aneurysm) Happy Day In Hell (great introduction to the show but a bit cheesy for my likings) Hell Is Forever (a banger of a song that's a perfect introduction to the main villain) Stayed Gone (Best instrumental in the entire show the singing is amazing the visuals are great and the rivalry between Alastor and Vox is really entertaining its almost a perfect song but there's one flaw it's extremely repetitive) It Starts With Sorry (just a nice filler song) Respectless (Velvette is honestly 😏😍 the lyrics are very intelligent and the song is just really catchy overall) Whatever It Takes (the most polarizing song in Hazbin Hotel by far and sadly im towards the more negative side of the matter I just think that this song has no reason to be in episode 3 Carmilla can not sing in this song for some reason she sounds like a 80 year old woman and i think Zestial is overrated in this song I definitely prefer Vaggie's singing her voice sounds angelic) Poison (Spectacular song that's all I need to say 2nd best song in the show) Loser Baby (What do I need to say that already hasn't been said its the best song in hazbin hotel) Hell's Greatest Dad (I don't like this song that much but that's mainly because the song is easily the most overrated in the show its still a banger though the animation is is amazing the singing is fine I guess and the duet between them is pretty cool since this random deer guy is fighting with f****** Lucifer but guys is this really one of the best songs in the show I don't think its even in my top 10) More Than Anything (beautiful f****** song this is what Whatever It Takes should've been 3rd best song in the show) Welcome To Heaven (just because this is the worst song in the show doesn't make it bad at all its actually pretty catchy it's like a 5/10 just mediocre) You Didn't Know (Overrated since this song is carried by Lute and Adam I think Lute's singing alone makes it a top 5 song in the show though) Out For Love (Carmilla sounds great in this but sounds horrible in Whatever It Takes for some reason there's a few problems I have with this song though like the fact that it adds nothing since Vaggie was basically already fighting for love and the lyrics are pretty cringey tbh also Carmilla is 😍) Ready For This (this song is all over the place almost to a fault I don't even know how to describe it) More Than Anything reprise: (once again just another solid filler song I slightly prefer it starts with sorry though since this song is like 3 seconds long) Finale (this is probably the most consistently good song in the show but nothing really stands out to me which is the biggest problem I have with it personally)
